We are working on the last investigation in Moving Straight Ahead. I have the unit test scheduled for next Wednesday, September 24th. Our homework schedule is a little different due to the test.

Today I am talking to the students about the unit test. I reminded then that they can correct homework for full credit and correct quizzes for half-credit, but there are no corrections on unit tests.

I give the study guide a week before the test to give them time to practice. I have asked them to spend 15 minutes each day working on the study guide. We will review in class next week and I will offer a study session before/after school (time to be determined).

I think the students are enjoying Looking For Pythagoras. It's very different from our last book! This week we are working on Investigation 2. We only have 2 homework assignments this week due to our short school week.

Monday: Problem 2.1
    Homework: Square Root Practice Worksheet CC-48 due Wednesday

Tuesday: Problem 2.1/2.2

Wednesday: Problem 2.2/2.3
    Homework: Real number system 6-5 due Monday

Thursday: Problem 2.3

Friday: No school

Looking Ahead:
 I expect the students to be ready for a quiz over Investigations 1 &2 next week, possibly Tuesday or Wednesday.
Next week we have school Monday - Wednesday. Middle school conferences are scheduled for Tues, Oct 22nd 4-8pm and Thurs, Oct 24 from 9am-6pm. I hope to see you there!

Week of October 7th

We took the unit test on Friday for Moving Straight Ahead and I was very pleased with how most students did on the test. I am collecting the books (blue) today and we are checking out new books from the library. Our new unit is called Looking for Pythagoras, all about the Pythagorean Theorem!

    Homework: Worksheet of pg. 16 15-25 due Monday (I am giving them a copy so they can write on it to find the area).

Week of September 30th

Wow! I don't know where September went! We are finishing our unit Moving Straight Ahead this week. Our unit test is this Friday. The students were given a study guide on Friday that will be due the day of the test. It is worth 25 points.
Also, any missing work or corrections from this unit are due by Friday, October 4th at 3:45pm. We will move to a new unit next week.

Monday: Problem 4.2
    Homework: Study guide due Friday (spend 15 minutes per day working on the study guide)

Tuesday: Problem 4.3

Wednesday: Unit Review
